Sundance is actually two people, Mat, 24 years old, and Stephane, 31 years old. They initially meet thanks to a friend. The human and musical friendship being instantaneous, they decide to start an electronic duo, back in December 2009.
Their first remix, “Ironical Sexism” from Revolte, is well received by the band. Encouraged by this first success Sundance keeps going with a remix of the Phoenix track “Fences” and quickly starts producing their owns track.
The French label deBonton find the band on myspace and propose them to make a remix of “Faces” from Valley. This remix ends up on the soundtrack of the French TV show “Paris Dernière” in may 2010, and as a bonus track in Tsugi Magazine the same month. The adventure continues with a remix made for the band Gobble Gobble, released in March.
From an artistic point of view, Sundance is an electronic music mixed with several acoustic music styles. They get inspired by Blues, Rock and Funk; the guitar, their “fetish” instrument, can be heard on each production.
Sundance are now working on an original and ambitious project: “Red Ocean City”, an imaginary town, living through the music of the band.
Sundance est constitué de Mat, 24 ans, et de Stéphane, 31 ans. Les deux garçons se rencontrent via un ami commun: le courant amical et musical passe très vite entre eux et ils décident de créer un duo électro dès décembre 2009.
Leur premier remix, Ironical Sexism, des Revolte, est apprécié par ces derniers. Sundance enchaîne alors avec Fences de Phoenix puis commence à travailler sur des productions personnelles.
Le label DeBonton ne tarde pas à les repérer sur leur page Myspace et leur passe commande d’un remix de Faces, des Valley, qui apparaîtra dans la bande son de l’émission «Paris Dernière» en mai 2010, ainsi qu’en bonus track du magazine Tsugi le même mois. Le label et le groupe Gobble Gobble confient au duo un remix de Boring Horror, sorti en Mars.
D’un point de vue artistique, Sundance est une électro mêlée à divers styles de musiques acoustiques. Leurs influences sont principalement blues, rock et funk, et la guitare, instrument fétiche, est présente dans chacun de leurs morceaux.
Sundance travaille aujourd’hui sur un projet ambitieux et original, «Red Ocean City»: une ville imaginaire vivant au travers de la musique du groupe.
